Know your not alone, Day 6 on Ideal Protein finished

The weekend is complete and I am so excited I made it without a carb!!! I'm looking forward to working a full week and getting into a routine.
I woke up feeling refreshed, I am feeling good with my success so far and It has only been 6 days on Ideal Protein.
Breakfast was a Blueberry Cranberry Granata Ideal Protein drink and some coffee.  I put some cinnamon in my coffee grounds to add a little flavor and 1 packet of flavored splenda http://www.splenda.com/products/packets I like the french vanilla, but there are lots to choose from.  I found them at Hy Vee.
One of the parts of this program that can be kind of difficult is when your spouse is NOT doing the program.  Mine is starting his Healthy New Year tomorrow.  For breakfast he had one of his favorite breakfast sandwiches. The smell made my mouth water. I knew that if I took even 1 bite it would knock me out of ketosis. That is 3 days of hard work and I am looking forward to my weigh in on Tuesday.  The temptation passes and he feels like garbage after.

My son Noah had a couple of basketball games today.  Before I left the house I mixed up the IP Chocolate drink and mixed it with a little coffee.  My old routine before a basketball game was to stop and get a skinny mocha from Starbucks. Old habits are easy to get back into,I need to be careful! My drink tastes great and I am satisfied. I also brought along some sliced peppers in a baggie in case I needed a little something between games.

When I got home, Robert was watching football and he wanted me to relax with him on the couch.  I tried to relax and I couldn't.  I had this energy inside me, "is this ketosis" I said out loud.  Robert looked at me like I had a third eye.  I told Robert I had to much energy to relax on the couch and I wanted to go for a jog.   He told me I was nuts, its 15* outside.  I bundled up and went for a 45 minute walk jog. I just read  a article that you burn more calories working out when it is cold outside. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness_articles.asp?id=351 The jog went well, but towards the end my legs felt kind of sluggish.  I think my body was out of gas.

Robert was still relaxing when I got home and he wanted to go to Granite City for his last hoorah before he gets on track tomorrow. I agree that I will go only if we don't get Idaho Nachos! He groaned and off we went. We get there and he makes some silly excuse why he HAS to have the Nachos, he makes me laugh and I say "that is fine. I inform him that he is going to eat them , it's going to be a waste of money and your going to feel like crap" He smiled from ear to ear and ordered the Nachos.  I order the Chicken Chop Salad with no Avocado and no dressing.  I brought my own Walden Farms Bacon Ranch.  I thought a couple of times about eating just 1 Nacho, but I didn't.  Once again, it would not be worth it. A little cheat is still a cheat! Robert also ordered the Meatloaf and potatoes.  Towards the end of his meal he is miserable. I say" I told you so!"
On our way home Robert has to crack the window and lean his seat back because he does not feel good.  I told him to remember this feeling the next time he wants to eat like that.  He did a half laugh/moan. Lesson learned, I hope.
I went to the store yesterday and stocked up on veggies, pickles, rice vinegar, arugula lettuce and protein.  I have to prepare for my week when we get home. I sip on a warm Ideal Protein Cappuccino while I prepare for the week ahead. Veggies consist of cut up broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, cucumbers and green peppers. I put them in baggies, 1 cup per baggie x 10.  I also boiled a dozen eggs and in a separate pan I boiled 5 chicken breasts. I think I am ready for the week, for now.

I finally sit down with a cup of decaf total tea, this will help with all the veggies! Anyone on the diet knows what I am talking about... I forgot that the biggest loser  www.biggestloser.com was on tonight. Tonight they are focusing on childhood obesity. This is a good link to help with some easy ideas for preventing childhood obesity http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/obesity/wecan/index.htm I start watching the show and it is very emotional to me, yet motivating. I teared up a few times.  I wrote down some of the comments that the coaches and participants said throughout the show.
-Do this for you, not anyone else
-Nobody can do this for you
-Breath in the positive, breath out the negative
-Work hard and see what your capable of, you will be amazed
-You can not change someone that does not want change
-Childhood Obesity, It is up to this generation to change the next
-Your capable of anything if you choose it

Finally, The song "Home" by Phillip Phillips played at the end.  The lyrics are fitting to all that we are going through. When my clients come and see me, I hope that I can make them feel comfortable, kind of like home.  I will try my best to make your experience on the Ideal Protein program as painless as possible.  I am here for you all!
Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Until tomorrow, Dusty Marie Swehla

  1. My 8 yo son and I LOVE that song. :) Reading the lyrics and singing it to myself in my head must have just hit me because it honestly brought tears to my eyes. Hormones? Maybe a little. :) I have never watched Biggest Loser but I plan to start. I like to watch ABC's Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition in the summer. Chris is amazing. I'm sure I'll become fond of Jillian too...maybe or maybe not. She seems pretty tough. :)

    1. I'm happy that your liking the blog Tina :) I hope it is helping you out! It sure helps me put some thoughts on the computer. This program has alot of important factors that come into play. The emotions are one of them, I teared up when that song played last night and I looked up the words it was worse. The show Biggest Loser is what I need right now to keep my motivation going 100%! Thanks again for your comments :) ~Dusty
