Mentally ready for Ideal Protein Phase 1!

I have been prepping & thinking of a restart of phase 1 for a few months! September was a no because of a trip & IA Football. I was going to start October 1, but I wasn't mentally ready! I love pumpkin EVERYTHING & I really wanted to enjoy pumpkin bars, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice lattes & pumpkin cookies. I got my fill, literally! When I stepped on the scale on Friday in front of Andrea for extra accountability for the first time in a month I about fell over !!! It was time!!! No Buts about it!!!
There was no question or doubt that it was time to get restarted!!! I have worked at Innovative for almost 4 years & I have restarted this diet a few times. I have failed a couple times, made excuses & took short cuts. A few of my favorite aspects of this program is that a fresh start is always an option! Another thing I love about ideal protein is if you FOLLOW the protocol 100% you will get great results. I have to remind myself that there is not a gray area! If I choose to do it 98% (which I've done) I'm not happy with my results,I get discouraged & I get off track. I talk to clients about the weight range to stay in. I have a range that I stay within & the top # is my OH MY #!!! I hit that # & honestly I'm a little embarrassed!!! I often remind my clients that I am human & my weight & food choices are something I will have to be aware of forever.
November 1, 2014 was a fresh start on Phase 1. I prepped Friday night as the kiddos were sorting their Halloween candy. I cut up cucumbers, celery & boiled a dozen eggs. It was my Saturday to work so I started with a cup of black coffee & cappuccino IP. The morning went quick and I was feeling good. After work I met my family at a friends house to watch the Iowa game. I had my veggies, NON restricted S & V chips & fresh pico de galo. The tailgating food & cupcakes called my name a couple times but I wasn't hungry & the number I saw on the scale yesterday kept me on the straight & narrow. After the game we ran to SAMs where I picked up a rotisserie chicken & broccoli steamers for dinner at my Dads. When I got to my dads the kids were all eating candy & snacking on apples & grapes. I had to stop myself multiple times from the mindless eating that I had gotten back into. I cut up a PB bar into 12 tiny peices & snacked on them while we all visited. I reminded myself that I have a choice in what I eat or drink. While the rest of my family enjoyed chili dogs & goulash I ate the best rotisserie chicken I've ever tasted!                    We headed home to watch my cute precious nephew Brodie. He wanted to watch Captain America, eat popcorn & drink hot chocolate. I had some cinnamon green tea as my treat.
My first day on phase 1 was a complete success! No shortcuts or BLT's (bites, licks or tastes) I'm very proud of myself & thankful for my family & husband for supporting my decision to get back on track with Ideal Protein. I know that this isn't going to be a breeze, there will be challenges, hurtles & pumpkin pie to refuse. But... I know I can do this!!!
There is no better time than now for a fresh start! Know that you have a choice.

  1. Thank you so much for posting this. I have been thinking about starting back up again after gaining 15 pounds but I have been to embarrassed to come back. This said a lot of what I have been telling my self. It's nice to not feel alone. I know what I need to do. I did it once I can do it again. Thanks again for putting this out there.

    1. Hi Trish, Your very welcome!!! I will continue to post throughout my journey on Phase 1. I also wrote down 10 reasons why I restarted and when I have the urge to stray off the diet I will get these out and read them. I also took a picture of the # on the scale. Good luck :)!

  2. Can you eat the skin on the rotisserie chicken? I keep forgetting to ask! :-)

    1. Hi Tricia, No, you shouldn't eat the skin. I also try to stick to the white meat. Let me know if you have any further questions. Have a great day!
